New year, new site, new works

One month into 2025, and the benefit of having a handful of New Year resolutions is apparent: the target you're aiming for is much broader.

Rededicating myself to creative pursuits was one of my goals for the year, and I'm happy to say it's going well so far. One month in, and I'm making space — literally and metaphorically — for art in my schedule. I've been in the studio almost every day this month, which is the first time in years that's happened.

This month, it's been all about cardboard: after the Christmas delivery onslaught, we have a shit-ton lying about the apartment, so I've been looking for ways to upcycle and reimagine it. (Doggo has been helping with some of the ripping and cutting, as shredding it to pieces is one of his favorite hobbies. I have a vague idea about creating his likeness from it one day.)

I've also been thinking about water a lot, and it's come through in some of my painting: blues and turquoise, grey ocean horizons, sail boats, glassy reflections and turbulent seas. I'm thinking about extending the HOME IS WHERE series to include some of these works.

Final thing keeping me busy this month: new website! Like almost everything in my studio, it's a work in progress. Don't get too comfy with how it looks, I'm sure I'll be bored in a month or two and start it all over again.
